Where Warmth Gathers is part of Inherited Blooms — a deeply personal limited edition collection created in quiet collaboration with my late mother, an accomplished textile artist. The floral center of this piece was shaped and appliquéd entirely by her hand. I have completed each composition with layered fabric, beadwork, and crystal accents — her work and mine meeting in a shared space of memory, material, and meaning. Only 19 pieces remain in this collection.
A single warm coral rose opens at the center of the composition with a generous, unhurried radiance — its five rounded petals constructed from inherited soft coral and dusty rose fabric, each one distinct in the subtle variation of its tone, layered and shaped by my mother's hand with an ease and naturalness that speaks of long practice and deep love for the craft. The petals open fully and without reservation, creating a bloom of extraordinary warmth and completeness. At the very heart of the flower rests the most elaborate and luminous center embellishment in the entire Inherited Blooms Collection — a warm gold fabric base is covered with iridescent glass pebbles of varying sizes, their surfaces catching and scattering light with a soft, organic brilliance that shifts with every angle of viewing, like a handful of morning dew held perfectly still. Surrounding this glowing center, a starburst of marquise-shaped iridescent crystals radiates outward in eight directions — each one catching light with extraordinary faceted brilliance, creating a center of such jewel-like luminosity that the eye is drawn inward with quiet, irresistible insistence. A small pink fabric bud with green calyx rises from the upper left — tender, expectant, and full of the quiet promise of something not yet open, placed there by my mother's hand as if she knew exactly what the composition needed. Dark forest green and deep teal batik fabric leaves fan outward from the stem with rich, grounded botanical presence. The inner background is the soft natural linen fabric printed with delicate dragonfly forms that appears throughout the Inherited Blooms Collection — quiet, airy, and deeply familiar. The outer border is a soft dusty rose and cream botanical batik fabric — warm, refined, and deeply complementary to the coral bloom within.
