Where Soft Light Falls is part of Inherited Blooms — a deeply personal limited edition collection created in quiet collaboration with my late mother, an accomplished textile artist. The floral center of this piece was shaped and appliquéd entirely by her hand. I have completed each composition with layered fabric, beadwork, and crystal accents — her work and mine meeting in a shared space of memory, material, and meaning. Only 19 pieces remain in this collection.

A small cluster of blush-toned blooms drapes delicately across the composition with the relaxed, unhurried grace of flowers caught in the softest moment of their opening — their petals constructed from inherited blush pink fabric, so tender in tone that they seem to hold light rather than reflect it. Deep red Czech glass beads form the stamens at the crown of each bloom, radiating outward with a fine, precise detail that gives each flower a lifelike botanical accuracy — as though lifted directly from a field guide of the most beautiful imagined garden. At the base of each bloom, a small orange fabric center is encircled by yellow Czech glass beads that catch the light with a warm, honeyed glow — tiny details of extraordinary craftsmanship that reward the closest and most careful looking. Dark forest green batik fabric leaves fan outward in four directions — deep, grounding, and beautifully textured — holding the soft blooms in a calm and steady botanical embrace. The inner background is a warm cream linen fabric printed with delicate white botanical tree forms — ghostly, ethereal, and deeply beautiful, giving the composition a sense of depth and quiet mystery. The outer border is a vibrant pink and orange batik floral fabric that frames the piece with warmth and energy — a joyful counterpoint to the quiet intimacy within.

There is a softness here that feels almost like a whisper — an invitation to slow down, to notice, and to rest in the quiet presence of something meaningful.
