Where Quiet Grows

8 x 8 inches (20.3 x 20.3 cm)

Where Quiet Grows is part of Inherited Blooms — a deeply personal limited edition collection created in quiet collaboration with my late mother, an accomplished textile artist. The floral center of this piece was shaped and appliquéd entirely by her hand. I have completed each composition with layered fabric, beadwork, and crystal accents — her work and mine meeting in a shared space of memory, material, and meaning. Only 19 pieces remain in this collection.

Two deep violet bell-shaped blooms bow gracefully from curving sage green stems with the quiet, nodding elegance of flowers that have always known how to inhabit stillness — their forms constructed from inherited fabric in deep purple, violet, and soft lavender, each petal layered and shaped by my mother's hand with an extraordinary botanical precision. The interior of each bloom is densely filled with deep purple and blue Czech glass beads — clustered together in rich, jewel-like abundance that gives each flower a dimensional, velvety interior that catches the light with a deep, shifting iridescence. The outer edges of each bloom are outlined in a precise trail of iridescent crystals that trace every curve and contour with extraordinary delicacy — a continuous arc of shimmer that catches light from every angle, like dew settled along the lip of a bell at dawn. Soft sage and cream fabric sepals cup each bloom from above with a tender, protective grace. Dark forest green zebra-stripe batik fabric leaves anchor the composition below with bold, grounded botanical presence. And then — the most extraordinary and distinctive element of the entire Inherited Blooms Collection — flowing lines of lavender Czech glass beads trail and curl across the background in graceful, organic spirals and tendrils, following the natural energy of the composition with the same unhurried freedom as a vine finding its own way through a garden. These bead tendrils give the piece an animated, living quality entirely unlike anything else in the collection — as though the garden itself is still growing, still reaching, still becoming. The inner background is the soft natural linen fabric printed with delicate dragonfly forms — quiet, airy, and deeply familiar. The outer border is a dramatic deep purple and violet batik swirl fabric — rich, complex, and deeply complementary to the violet blooms within.

There is a sense of stillness here — of something unfolding quietly over time, revealing its intricacy through layered materials and thoughtful composition. Presented in a light white wash floating frame, ready to hang. This piece is part of the Inherited Blooms Collection — a limited edition of only 19 remaining pieces.
