Thistle Remembers is part of Inherited Blooms — a deeply personal limited edition collection created in quiet collaboration with my late mother, an accomplished textile artist. The floral center of this piece was shaped and appliquéd entirely by her hand. I have completed each composition with layered fabric, beadwork, and crystal accents — her work and mine meeting in a shared space of memory, material, and meaning. Only 19 pieces remain in this collection.

A single thistle rises from the center of the composition with the quiet, resilient dignity that has always made this flower a symbol of endurance and remembrance — its form constructed from inherited fabrics with a botanical precision and layered complexity that feels both entirely natural and deeply personal. The crown of the thistle is densely covered in Czech glass beads in deep purple, burgundy, and magenta — row upon row of beads laid with extraordinary precision, creating a richly textured surface that catches light from every angle with a deep, jewel-like luminosity that shifts from violet to burgundy to warm pink as the viewing angle changes. The body of the thistle is constructed from a beautifully detailed green fabric printed with a scale-like botanical pattern — precise, organic, and full of quiet natural complexity — across which iridescent crystals are scattered like morning dew, each one catching the light with a soft, shifting brilliance. The leaves extend outward from the base with a naturalistic, slightly jagged grace — their edges traced with Czech glass beads in soft gold and chartreuse that add a warm, dimensional shimmer to every leaf tip and curve. The inner background is the soft natural linen fabric printed with delicate dragonfly forms that appears throughout the Inherited Blooms Collection — quiet, airy, and deeply familiar, like returning to a place you have always known. The outer border is a dramatic deep purple and burnt orange batik fabric — rich, complex, and deeply complementary to the purple thistle crown, giving the entire piece a presence that feels both bold and intimate.
