Held in Bloom is part of Inherited Blooms — a deeply personal limited edition collection created in quiet collaboration with my late mother, an accomplished textile artist. The floral center of this piece was shaped and appliquéd entirely by her hand. I have completed each composition with layered fabric and crystal accents — her work and mine meeting in a shared space of memory, material, and meaning. Only 19 pieces remain in this collection.

Two vibrant pink star-shaped blooms open with a sense of ease and luminous confidence — their slender, pointed petals constructed from inherited deep rose and magenta fabric, each one radiating outward with the elegant precision of a botanical illustration come to life. The petals carry a subtle variation in tone across their surfaces — deeper at the edges, softer at the center — giving each bloom a dimensional quality that rewards the closest looking. At the heart of each flower, a small circle of warm gold fabric forms a glowing center, embellished with iridescent crystals that catch and scatter light with a delicate, jewel-like brilliance — intimate and luminous, like a tiny sun held at the heart of a bloom. Dark olive and brown batik fabric stems and leaves extend outward with a grounded, botanical authority — their textured surfaces giving the composition a naturalistic depth and weight that beautifully anchors the soft pink blooms. A small pink fabric bud rises from the upper left stem — tender, expectant, and full of the quiet promise of something not yet fully open. The inner background is a soft warm cream linen fabric with delicate tone on tone botanical leaf and flower forms — airy, natural, and deeply restful, giving the composition a sense of quiet depth. The outer border is a soft cream and white fabric with a subtle circular pattern — refined and unhurried, the perfect frame for a piece that asks only to be seen slowly.
